What is Meditation?

Meditation is an intensely personal and spiritual experience. The desired purpose of each meditation technique is to channel our awareness into a more positive direction by totally transforming one's state of mind. To meditate is to turn inwards, to concentrate on the inner self.

Meditation is the practice by which one discovers the tranquility and the vastness of the inner self. It stimulates the inner awareness as well as releases all the tensions, physical and mental.

Need of Meditation:

Meditation is an ultimate need of modern era. With the expansion of the media and technology the world has become too small. Whatever we see or look or watch around, directly get stored in our mind, without even our knowing mind is over flooded with thoughts and constant traffic of information. There is a great need of time to time deep cleaning of mind, so that garbage should be thrown out but it is very sad that we have lost control over mind. Mind has become our master, we are moving according to the direction. Meditation is a process to clean your mind. It throws out whatever is not required and slowly and gradually you become master of your mind.

it is true that meditation is state of non doing. It is a state of non action. Then question comes why techniques are needed? Actually down the edges we are in habit of doing things in certain ways. Even our eating, laughing, walking has a techniques behind it. For instance, if a person is laughing whole heartedly, loudly, he is called uncivilized. This is the reason why every thing we do, has a pattern. Human is much conditioned with techniques. Is it possible for a man to be in state of meditation without any technique? Therefore techniques are designed and developed. These techniques take man into a state of deep relaxation and when you are totally relaxed you reach at the state of no action.
